Hi all, My Focus TDCi has developed a problem with starting which seems to be getting worse. when the key is turned to start position nothing happens. All the dash lights light go on and off as normal, but nothing from the starter. We have an intermittent starting problem on our 2007 S-Max 2.0 TDCi. It has only started about 2 months ago, and was only happening once or twice a week, but with the colder weather setting in the problem ha gotten a lot worse in the last week. T describe the problem, the engine turns over but doesn't seem to fire. 1) Check battery type. 2) If you have access to a decent battery charger, use it for at least 4 hours. But do not use a high power (>5 amps) "quick charge" type, nor some old unregulated one. A regulated charger of 3A to 5A would be good. Sounds like you have a misfire causing the juddering - spark plugs and coil pack would be a good place to start looking. As both lambda sensors are out of voltage, it's probably not those at fault, but they are detecting the overfuel from the misfire. 1.
